Overview

Phuket Elephant Sanctuary was among the first in Thailand to end riding and performances, offering observation-only experiences with rescued elephants in natural forest enclosures.

Half-day programmes include feeding, walking alongside elephants at a distance, and learning about conservation from guides.

History

Founded to promote ethical tourism, the sanctuary partners with the Save Elephant Foundation and sets standards now followed by other Phuket venues.

Book online in advance. Wear closed shoes and earthy colours. Mosquito repellent recommended. Photography allowed without flash.
