Karon

One of Phuket's longest beaches with a relaxed, less crowded atmosphere than Patong.

Karon

Overview

Karon Beach runs for nearly three kilometres of golden sand, offering more space and a quieter pace than neighbouring Patong while still providing restaurants, shops, and resorts within walking distance.

The beach park at the southern end is popular for picnics and evening exercise. Karon suits travellers who want a proper beach holiday without Patong's nightlife, while staying close enough for a night out.

Things To Do

Walk the full length of Karon Beach, browse Karon Temple Market on Tuesdays and Saturdays, visit the Karon viewpoint, enjoy water sports, and take a tuk-tuk to Patong or Kata for variety.

The giant mermaid statue at the south end is a local landmark and photo stop.

Best Hotels

Karon is known for excellent value resorts and family-friendly properties set among tropical gardens. Many hotels line Patak Road behind the beach with pool complexes and kids' clubs.

Best Restaurants

Patak Road has authentic Thai restaurants favoured by locals. Beachfront venues offer sunset dining; Mövenpick Resort area has upscale buffets. Karon is less party-focused than Patong but still has plenty of choice.
